My name is Emma Struck, and I am a senior at Highland Park High School in Highland Park Illinois. I play outside back for Chicago FC United GA. Typically, we attend multiple national tournaments and showcases each year. I am looking forward to continuing traveling as things are returning to normal in order to play against even more competitive teams. My love and commitment to soccer have given me many great experiences. Such as, traveling to France to play on a tour of France and attend World Cup games, as well as attending the GPS national team camp in South Carolina.
I believe that through daily practices, lifting sessions, extra-private training, hours of working in the backyard with my sister, and difficult games I have become a strong and fast defender. I pride myself on my athleticism and ability to read the field. While my strong suit is making hard tackles, I love sparking counter-attacks and getting forward to support the offense.
In addition, I believe I am a strong leader. My twin sister and I regularly help warm-up, train, and coach the U14, U12, and U8 players at their practices and games. I really enjoy working with the younger players and value acting as a role model for them. Watching them improve is extremely rewarding however this experience has allowed me to improve as well. Coaching younger kids has allowed me to return to and relearn the basics of soccer and has shown me that the true key to success is hard work and dedication.
I believe this approach has helped me in school, as I have a 4.6 GPA. In both school and soccer, I am committed to working hard and trying my best. After high school, I hope to go to an exceptional academic school where I can also play soccer. I see myself majoring in architecture or engineering because I enjoy math, being creative, and problem-solving or business or economics. I am looking forward to everything I will learn while going through this process.
