      My name is Destyni Garay. growing up in a small town with limited opportunities, I witnessed firsthand the challenges my mom faced in raising me and my three older siblings. Without the support of my father, my mom was both the nurturer and the provider, juggling multiple jobs while ensuring we had what we needed to succeed. Her resilience, kindness, and determination shaped my character and taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance, and compassion. She taught me that no matter how difficult life gets, you keep moving forward and give your best, and I carry those lessons with me every day. From a young age, I’ve always felt the pull of soccer. I started playing when I was five years old, and it’s been a passion of mine ever since. Soccer has been more than just a sport to me—it’s been a source of discipline, teamwork, and self-belief. As I’ve grown older, my commitment to playing at the highest level has only deepened. I’m determined to pursue my dream of playing professional women’s soccer. While the journey is long and challenging, I am prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. But I also understand the importance of planning for the future. In the event that professional soccer doesn’t become an option, I have set another goal: to major in criminology and pursue a career as a detective. Growing up, I saw the value of strong role models who could bring justice to communities, and I want to be part of that. Whether on the soccer field or in the field of criminology, I am committed to making a meaningful impact. Living in a town where success is often elusive, I’ve always seen myself as part of the small percentage who will break through and achieve something greater. I set clear academic and athletic goals for myself and push myself every day to reach them. I’m a fast learner who adapts quickly to new environments, and I pride myself on my determination to stay focused no matter what obstacles come my way. Whether it's training for soccer, preparing for exams, or volunteering in my community, I give my best effort because I know that every step forward brings me closer to achieving my dreams. In everything I do, I strive to be kind, caring, and supportive of others, knowing that success is not just about achieving your own goals, but also helping those around you reach theirs.
