I've been playing soccer since I was 5 years old and joined my first summer league. I remember a few years later when I got hit in the face with a ball and got a black-eye; my mom, the coach pulled me off the field and told me to sit down. I sat for awhile before I got up itching to get back on the field even though I could only see out of one eye. Them, when I was 12 I joined my first travel team. I knew I wasn't going to be as good as the other girls, who had been on that team for years. So, I worked hard and got to the point where I was a starting forward and eventually I decided to try my hand at being a goalie. Turns out that that's my position. I grew into it, making saves that I never would've imagined I'd be making. Since then, I've come back from all of my injuries; a sprained ankle, broken fingers, chipped teeth and bloody lips, and 13 stitches under my eye from a cleat to the face. I return to the game, my head focused on making the saves and perfecting my form, along with guiding my team from my post at the back of the field. I was a starter on my high school team and wasn't quite sure if I wanted to play for college because of my interest in the medical field and the amount of focus I would need to put into my schoolwork. Then, I decided that if I really love the game, really love the sport that I'd put my all into my school work and my effort in the game and the team. In my opinion, my per-severeness in the game and my school work makes me a good choice, having the coach know that I will give my all in not only the game but my school too.
