I am 16 years old and am currently a Junior at Rhinebeck High School. I would describe myself as determined, loyal and honest. I like all things sports-related and enjoy spending time with my teammates and friends.
Some of my recent soccer highlights include starting for my high school soccer team, Rhinebeck Hawks Varsity Soccer both my freshman and sophomore and upcoming Junior year season. Throughout both my freshman and sophomore years, our team made it to the New York State Sectional Playoffs. I had two assists and one goal during my freshman season and three assists during my sophomore season.
Beyond school soccer, I have played for three travel teams. From ages 6-11, I played on a travel team for the Rhinebeck Soccer League. We placed first in our division in 2018. I then joined the Hyde Park United Travel team, Hyde Park Thunder, where I played for two seasons before joining the U19 Dutch Elite 2003 Girls’ Premier Travel team. Currently, I am coached by Kate Hofstede (coach at Bard College and former player/assistant coach at Columbia University) and Shaela Krayer (assistant coach at Vassar College). Our team is currently ranked as the 13th best girls soccer team in New York State.
Outside of soccer, I also enjoy downhill skiing, track and field and used to be an avid horseback rider until I decided to pursue soccer in a more serious way. Sports have always been my safe place, especially during the recent pandemic, when there were times that felt like sports were the only constant thing. For me, being part of a team means offering and receiving unconditional support, and I truly see my team as my family.
Finally, I am also passionate about my academics. I’ve been on the high honor roll since starting high school and am involved in Spanish Club and Madagascar Connect, which is a cultural exchange with Madagascar. I am one of ten students selected to serve as a student ambassador for this program which is scheduled to take place Summer 2022. During college, I hope to major in something related to science and continue both my academic and athletic journey. I always try to put my best foot forward and to focus on the positive aspects of everything I do, especially soccer.
