My name is Ruby Radovich, I am a 2023 graduate and have a desire and passion to play college/university soccer at the highest level. I am an extremely driven and focused student-athlete and I have the work ethic, dedication, and commitment to excel. I am coachable and have rare athletic talent that sets me apart from others and allows me the opportunity to excel at the highest level, I look forward to continuing to improve my overall athleticism and soccer skill set and working with a high-level university soccer program and coach in order to maximize my potential. My main priority is to attend a university that combines elite academics and a competitive soccer program. I promise to bring high energy, drive, dedication, and my passion and love for the game.
Currently, I Play for the U21 League 1 reserve for Tecumseh Soccer Club. In my 2021 season, my team played in the Premier Ontario Player Development League (O.P.D.L), which are regional leagues similar and equivalent to the ECNL and/or the GA league in the US. My team‘s season ended in the semi-finals to the eventual champion of the Ontario League. I have been with my team for five years, I am a starter for my team and have played a variety of positions. Three years ago I was asked to play center back. I looked forward to this challenge, as it brought higher levels of responsibility, and I looked forward to the opportunity to shut down the opposing team's top offensive players. My coaches say I am a dynamic and versatile player and am able to play multiple positions, including attacking midfielder and forward as well as my regular position as center back. Although I played 90% of my minutes as a center back I was still able to achieve third on my team in scoring. I was recognized and identified as one of the top players in the province and invited to try out for the U15 Provincial team in the fall of 2019 and the U18 Provincial screening in the spring of 2022. I believe this demonstrates my adaptability and coachability as a soccer player.
Recently I competed at the provincial level in Track and Field at the Next Champ Invitational Track Meet this past July in Toronto, earning second place in the 400 meter and achieving a PB of 59:06 seconds, which ranked me 5th in Canada for my age group and I have received an invite for 2022. Working hard during lockdowns has complimented my running which in turn helps my soccer with my endurance and speed and desire to compete. With confidence, I know when I enter a soccer match that I have the strength and conditioning to play the entire match at an unrelenting pace as well as sprinting capability to outrun any player I face. My athletic ceiling is high, as I was born into a family of athletes, my father was an Athletic All-Canadian Track and Field athlete, my brother is currently on an athletic/academic scholarship in Track and Cross XC and my mother has completed 10 marathons including the prestigious Abbott World Majors.
As an overall athlete, I have played many sports which include six school varsity sports. I have received MVP awards for basketball and cross country and recognition not only within my school but also provincially.
As I move forward with my soccer dreams, I know I cannot continue to play multiple sports, but I am grateful for all the lessons and coaches I have had. Participating in so many activities has taught me valuable lessons in time management and multitasking. I’m an honor student and have been all throughout my academic career. My current average is 94% in my academic courses, I also speak French as a second language. My school has recruited me to be a peer tutor mentoring and helping other students. My future academic interest is in Mathematics and Science and I would like to pursue a career in analytics/research or health sciences. I will continue to give my highest level of commitment to whichever coach wants to continue my development.
