Alize Allen '16 Recruiting Profile

       As I begin my college search, I am excited about the opportunity to pursue new academic and swimming career challenges.  I began my swimming career when I joined my school’s swim team at the age of 7. I immediately fell in love with the sport after I placed third in my first race ever. I swam all through middle school and joined my first club team, the Northeast YMCA Sharks where I did very well. The following year after attending a Buffalo State College Swim Camp, I was introduced to Coach Rick Aronberg and joined Star Swimming. In 7th grade, at age 12 I transferred to City Honors School, I joined the Varsity Swim Team and broke 7 School, Pool, and City Records. I have consistently broken my own records every year for the past 5 years. I am excited to be competing in the NYSPHAA State Championships for the first time, as my school has never competed in this meet, due to the fact that Buffalo City Schools swims co-ed and takes place during the winter season, as opposed to Girls’ Swimming, which takes place during Fall. I am looking forward to some great performances from myself as I am aware the competition will be stiff and I love a challenge! I am looking for a school that offers an excellent education as well as a team that I can help win Championships. I love being a part of a team. Some of my best and longest lasting friendships have been formed on my swim team. Academically, I am an above average student as the curriculum at my school is very challenging. I don’t have a lot of free time as academics and swimming take up the bulk of my days. I swim 2 ½ hours a day, 6 days a week, in addition to about 4 hours of homework every night. I am never late with assignments and study diligently for all tests, sometimes having to forsake a practice for an important exam or really hard test. Being in an International Baccalaureate Program and taking AP classes at the same time is very strenuous.  However as I previously stated, I love a challenge and nothing feels better than when you achieve your goals!  Whether in the pool or with my studies, I push myself to be the best I can be. I am hoping to find a coach who will help guide me and push me to my limits and help me achieve the next level of swimming (hopefully some Championships) I plan to major in Business Management and continue my education to attain a Master’s Degree in Law.
