My name is Kaitlyn Thompson, I am sixteen years old and I have been swimming competitively for four years. I started swim lessons when I was three years old and instantly fell in love with the sport. Over the years I went back forth trying to figure out if I want to join a swim team or stick with the lessons. When I eleven years old I did a pre-competitive swim camp to get a glimpse of what competitive swimming was like. After the camp, I knew that this was something I wanted to be a part of, and I have never thought twice about my decision.
The swimming world is such a positive and supportive environment. I have always noticed that people from your team and different teams are always rooting for you and hoping that you make your cut or get a best time. I believe this is why swimming is such a big passion of mine. I also enjoy the challenge of swim because it gives me something to look forward to. I am the type of person that loves to work hard and I am very dedicated to the sport. I love that I can go to practice and know that these people are like a second family to me and that we all have each other’s backs.
I would like to go into physical therapy as my future career. Physical therapy combines my interest in the human body with my passion for helping and caring for people. I would like to go into physical therapy over any other medical field because understanding injuries and helping to treat them or simply improving someone's quality of life has always been something I wanted to do.
Swimming in college has always been something I wanted to do. I knew swimming was going to be a long term sport for me and participating in college swimming would allow me to pursue that goal of mine.
