Hi, my name is Maya Marcyan. I have been swimming since the age of 8 years old. Over time swimming has shaped me as a person inside and out of the pool. This sport helped me develop many characteristics such as determination, positivity, teamwork and kindness. I swim on the Town of Tonawanda Titans right now. I have been swimming in this team since I was 11 years old. I also have been competing on my Varsity swim team at Lewiston Porter since I was in 7th grade. I have learned many things while swimming that have changed my life immensely. I have learned that the harder you work the better that you will compete. Swimming is also 50% mental and I have learned that in order to perform at your top times you also have to be confident and believe in what you can do. Training with my teammates and coaches brings me great motivation and allows me to become my best self. It also helps me in school as well. Swim has allowed me to practice determination and hard work in the pool, this also allows me to demonstrate those characteristics in the classroom. I have taken many honors and AP classes in my high school career so far. I am looking for a school that will challenge me athletically and academically. I am looking forward to finding a school that is the best fit for me! Thank you for reading my personal statement.
