Looking back on all my past years of swimming and schooling, I feel overly prepared and excited to have the opportunity to continue my swimming and academic career at college. While there may have been tough times in both school and swimming, I have learned to persevere. Writing that five page paper or completing that 7000 yard practice can be really taxing at the time, but I believe it will all pay off in the end.
I have been swimming competitively since I was 5 years old. My parents have been huge motivators for me as they are both swimmers, and my dad swam in college. Swimming is in my blood, and I never get tired of it. I had a major concussion back in 2018, so I was out of practice for a little while, and out of competition for a long time. The time off of swimming has made me realize how much I truly love the sport, especially racing. It has also taught me a lot about myself. Getting back into swimming has taught me how to work hard to accomplish my goals. I am much more mentally tough than I was before, and I’m also much more determined. I feel I know myself in the water really well. I know my strengths and my weaknesses, and how to use each to make myself a better and faster swimmer. This same applies to my academics; I excel in the classroom. I hope to find a great match to further my swimming and academic career!
