Hello! My name is Raegan Sherrill, I got into swimming when I was eight years old. When I was younger things came very naturally for me, so when my neighborhood started a summer swim team, I decided I should try out. That's where my love for swimming began, I had no previous interest in the sport but when I experienced the team environment, great competition, and just the overall experience I knew swimming was something I wanted to stick with. Now, I am one of the few original members on my neighborhood team, a Cuthbertson cavalier swimmer, and an athlete for Mecklenburg Swim Association in Charlotte, NC.
I am a devoted student-athlete and work hard to keep my grades above average and to perform well in the water. Academically, I've shown my hardworking characteristics by maintaining mostly A average in Honors courses as well as staying involved through the Chinese National Honors Society and volunteering for Beta Club. I plan to add several AP courses to my schedule nest school year and participate in the National Honors Society. I do a great job maintaining my academic, athletic, and social life as well as exceeding expectations which I believe causes me to stand out compared to other athletes.
Throughout the years, swimming has not only trained my physically but I've grown mentally from the sport as well. Pushing myself and working every day only to drop a little time at the next meet is just what I need to work harder. When I drop time I always set a new goal for myself and I am determined to succeed.
Over the past year, I've had to push myself harder than the rest. I've been out with injuries, and practices weren't running their normal schedule because of Covid, but I believe that this upcoming season is going to be superb. I plan to push myself to reach my goals in and out of the water to my best ability and cannot wait for future opportunities.
