Breckin Gormley '22 Recruiting Profile

I am heading into my grade 10 year and am still trying to determine what careers are most appealing to me.  I enjoy learning and like the thinking that goes into math and statistics (probably because of my experience as a swimmer), however, I am also interested in biology and the sciences and am leaning towards medicine.  

I am very passionate about swimming and have spent the last 8 years swimming for the Carleton Place Water Dragons, located in a small town about 45km West of the Nations Capital in Ottawa.  Our town is small and so is our team.  I am committed to helping our club to grow and try to do my best to model what it means to be a dedicated and motivated athlete.  I think swimming for a small club challenges athletes in many ways, however, it also has its benefits too. 

Swimming has taught me how to be committed and has ingrained a sense of competition in me that benefits me in all aspects of my life.  Competing has also taught me how to step outside of my comfort zone, so when I'm faced with new challenges and experiences in my life, I am ready.  I am keen to swim NCAA, this process is new to me and I'm just trying to determine what schools/programs might be the best fit for me.
