I was fortunate enough to be introduced to virtually every sport and extracurricular activity by my parents. After spending several years in softball, dance, and basketball, I recognized my ultimate passion when I followed my dad to the tennis courts when I was 10.
Unlike many of my friends, teammates, or club members who appear to have either peaked in their sport, or are now burnt out and losing interest of what they were once passionate about, I continue to enjoy the challenges of tennis. Because I may have started tennis specific training a bit later than my peers, I am now just beginning to master and realize some of the shots and techniques that separated me from higher level players in the past. For this reason, I believe I am just beginning to tap my potential.
I possess good power on my flat and slice serves, and continue to refine my kick serve. My two hand backhand is clean and consistent, and am refining my forehand to become more of a weapon. The academy I train at, Five Star Academy, has recently been named the Midwest Tennis Facility of the Year, and has a staff that trains my High Performance Group to be first-strike players. We are trained and developed to look for the first opportunity to go on offense and finish the point at the net as needed.
Another reason I may just beginning to realize my tennis potential is because of the time and commitment I have put towards things off the court. I am a well-rounded student athlete and possess a 4.4 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), and am included in various student leadership activities, as well as helping instruct and train my tennis academy's younger players.
I am excited to find the right university that will help me realize my ambitious athletic and academic goals.
