Hello!
My name is Asahi Goods, and I graduate from Hackley School in 2024. I have been playing tennis since I was 7 years old. For more than half my life, tennis has been a fundamental piece of who I am as a person. My passion for the sport lies in the fact that, in order to be a successful player, I had to develop my mental game as much as I had to work on my physical one. I’ve learned that my physical gifts of speed, agility, and power won’t win a match unless they are coupled with my mental gifts of intelligence, competitiveness, and persistence. I don’t let a point or a game affect how I play a match.
Being a part of my school’s varsity tennis team since 8th grade has only enhanced and nurtured my love for tennis. As a team member, I am fortunate to be a part of a community of people who I know I can trust and who know they can trust and count on me all the while playing the sport I love. This experience has made it clear to me that I want the same in college. Being a part of a team has made me strive to be the best that I can be not only as an athlete but as a student as well. Transitively, I take the lessons I learn in tennis and apply them to my academics, other sports like track and field, community service and even my summer internship. The desire to always test my limits and rise to another level pushes me to work and train hard. In this next chapter of my life as a college student and student athlete, I plan to continue to work hard, grow, and evolve in all things I do.
