I started playing tennis for fun in my freshman year. I went with my friend and I hit my first ball, with my first racket. Our coach that year didn't know much about tennis so I developed bad habits. The following year I decided to quit cheer and continue playing tennis because I grew to love the competition aspect of the game. That year we had a new coach, a former college tennis player. He was patient and taught us the right way to hit a forehand and backhand. It was hard to change the old habits. I persevered and slowly but surely began getting better and better each day.
I'm an honest and humble person who has good sportsmanship. I'm an approachable person and I love meeting and talking with new people I am a player who knows their strengths and weaknesses and can use that to my advantage in a match. The main thing that sets me apart from my team is that I'm a consistent player while also hitting the ball with strength. I have good defensive skills, I'm fast and I can get to most short balls. Another thing that sets me apart from my team is that I have an attacking mentality, at every point, I'm attacking immediately. During, and in between points I'm analyzing what shot I should take next and analyzing my opponent's weaknesses.
I'm an A/B student and I've taken 14 honors classes. I'm a very active person and I play sports year-round. I cheered 2019-2021 and then I switched to tennis. I also play club soccer as well as Varsity high school soccer. I'm always happy to volunteer for Special Olympics to help out and make my buddy happy. I also volunteer to coach middle school tennis lessons, it's fun coaching and offering feedback, as well as seeing the athlete get better. I was chosen to be a part of a leadership program run by my county. In this program we learned how to use our leadership skills, we speak a lot in that class to become more confident in speaking in front of people, I really like this program because it's making me a stronger leader.
I want to attend a college that pushes me to be the best version of myself on and off the court. I want a college that meets my campus needs as well as my major. I'm happy to keep being a leader and help push my friends and teammates to be the best they can be. I'm excited to have an opportunity to keep playing tennis, a sport that I grew to love.
