I began running track at 6 years old running for a local competitive track club in Lee's Summit, Missouri. My parents saw something in me that I didn't know was there. So, I decided to give it a try and the next thing I knew, I had developed a strong desire to run and fell in love with the sport.
My collegiate goals are: 1) to attend college on a track scholarship to further my education in Pre-Med studies; 2) to find a university that will not only be a good fit for me in track, but also academically; 3) to become a conference champion; and 4) to find a coach that will be a good mentor, one who will encourage me, be truthful and help prepare me for the next level in track after college and life in general. My aspirations are to study medicine to become a Cardiothoracic surgeon. I also have a strong desire to one day run professionally and ultimately represent the United States of American at the Olympics games in the sport of track and field.
The reason why I would make a good candidate for a team is because I am a person of good character who holds integrity at the top of my list. I possess the qualities of leadership, accountability, determination, perseverance, uplift, unselfishness and a team player just to name a few. Last and certainly not least, I put my faith and trust in my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13
The areas that make me different from other recruits is that I believe that I must always present myself as a person who displays good character, high moral values, integrity and a good work ethic. I’m not only represent myself, but I also represent my family, my church, the University and the track team. I don't want to do anything that would bring shame or disappointment to these important areas of my life. Another thing that makes me different is that I'm a leader and I lead by precept and example. I'm also willing to make the necessary sacrifices to achieve my goals. I don't believe in giving up! It's okay to fail but keep trying because eventually you will overcome the obstacle that stands in your way. As it relates to academically, there will always be different challenges especially being a student-athlete. Regardless of the challenges I may face whether it be past, present or future, my sincere prayer is not for the challenge to become easier, but to make me better to be equipped to handle the challenge.
