Hello, my name is Catherine (Cate) McDaniels and I am currently a junior at Westmont high school.
Ambitious is a word others have used to describe me which is true, but I look at myself as being extremely competitive. I've been a competitor at the highest level since the age of six and have traveled the world as an Irish dancer, accomplishing many of my goals including a world medal. During the last decade I willingly sacrificed a lot of free time and my body to being a winner. In April of 2021 I decided to retire from dance and focus my energy into track and field. I've always enjoyed being active as I have played basketball, volleyball and cross country (starting in grade school) but I believe that where I show the most promise is in the area of speed. Track and field is now where I want to see what I am capable of with the knowledge and expertise of my coaches in high school and future college.
My freshman year was cut short due to Covid so I will share with you my sophomore 2021 season accomplishments while maintaining a rigorous academic schedule:
- Team (female) MVP
-All Conference
-All Sectional
-State qualifier in 3 events (400M, 400M relay and Pole Vault) with my PR in the 400m at State)
-12th place in the 400m at State 2021(winner of my heat)
In 2022 I will be competing in the indoor and outdoor track season in the hopes of setting some new personal records.
