I strive to improve on my main events: Triple Jump, 400m, Long Jump and 200m. My secondary events include the 4by4 and 4by1. I am also determined to drop my time and improve on my distance for my jumps.
During my Sophomore Year, I joined a club to keep myself conditioned and to keep improving. Currently I am running for two teams, Aurora Sundowners and Yorkville High School (YHS). During the school year I balance out both academics and athletics, I take time out of my day to do both because I like to do my absolute best and my goal is to get a college that can benefits me for academics and athletics.
I balance three programs during Indoor-Fall/Winter Season (1st semester), one during Outdoor-Spring Season-(2nd semester,) and then one during the Summer, (end of May to August) . Even though I was a late bloomer and started track my Freshmen Year, I've been working hard to improve on my events. To do this, I practice during the weekends to keep dropping my times, while also balancing my studies.
On both my track teams I strive to keep everyone around me, and myself positive and hyped up. I support everyone on my team to always do their best. I always cheer them on and encourage them to keep striving for their goals. Both teams are like family to me, we spend a lot of time together on and off the field. Even heading to our meets, everyone is supportive and helping each other! When I'm running at a meet I always think about beating my pr and if I don't do that good, I turn around and I keep improving until I get that time or that form down.
Even during a tuff practice, I stay positive and remember that the work out is used to help keep us in shape and to break down our times. Some of my workouts consist of endurance days, which varies from week to week. An example of one of our workouts is a ladder workout; we go from 1600m-800m-400m-300m-200m, and then a 100m. Also, my jumping days are two- three days a week which consists of practicing Long/Triple Jump, with some drills to improve on techniques. Finally, we do cardio days, which consist of many different workouts: 8 laps of sprinting 100m, then jogging another 100m and repeating that. Most days we end practice running a 400m.
Some events that I competed in over my track career are the AAU Junior Olympics, my relay team for the Sundowners made it through all three levels of the AAU summer meets and we got the chance to compete in the 2018 National Junior Olympics that were held in Iowa. I also competed in high school track team for three years and made it on varsity all three years, so far I went to Regionals for the 400m and the 4by4. My junior year my times for the 400m open was a 1:04 and my split time for the 4by4 during conference was 59 seconds. My goal for my upcoming senior year is to compete for both indoor and outdoor season for the 400m, Triple, Long Jump and 200m; and to drop my times down significantly because I practice everyday, running, jumping and competing; it is everything to me. Some of my teammates think I'm crazy that I practice all the time, but my response is that I love track and it's something that I enjoy doing, so why stop something if your passionate in it
