As a runner, I would like to compete in the collegiate level as a 100 and 200 meter sprinter. I also have a goal of becoming a collegiate relay runner. Currently, I am all of those things on my varsity high school team, and I have been doing them for five years (since 6th grade). Furthermore, I compete on the varsity cross country team to stay in shape for the track season. This is because in my mind, the term “off-season“ doesn’t mean resting time. While I do enjoy long distance, I specialize and enjoy sprinting much more, which is why I do not do long distance during track season. While running is a great passion of mine, I like to maintain a balance with my studies, because I also greatly enjoy science. I am on the state Science Olympiad team for my school, and intend to go into a science program in college while I am running.
