I've been running for as long as I can remember. It all began with chasing boys in kindergarten. I don't chase boys anymore, I race girls and I beat them!
I'm currently a rising Senior at Fox Lane High School in Bedford, NY. I LOVE to race. I train with my teammates 5 days a week in-season, and supplement that with private training with a Sprints Coach twice a week. I work hard, I am focused and determined. I’m extremely coachable! I work diligently throughout the Indoor and Outdoor season on strength, endurance, flexibility and proper bio-mechanics in order to improve my times. I enjoy sharing my growing knowledge and enthusiasm for this sport with my teammates, family, and anyone else who’ll listen. My teammates recognize me as a leader in Sprints and come to me with questions about running mechanics, injury prevention, nutrition, and dynamic warm-ups. I've acquired quite a stockpile of helpful articles, YouTube videos, and devices to help me and my teammates improve.
I love school! I am thoroughly enjoying all of my classes this year, and work persistently on maintaining great grades; I am a High Honor Roll student, and resolve to remain there throughout my HS career. I am eager to begin studying in the fields that are of interest to me - Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences and/or Sustainable Architecture. I want to be able to create things that have a positive impact on our Earth and people, ensuring that our actions and decisions in building don’t hinder the opportunities of future generations.
I've had a fair amount of experience with volunteering in my community through Church and school, and also had a fantastic opportunity to work with children in Orosi, Costa Rica during a Spanish language immersion experience. During the summer of 2014, I studied Spanish in Boquete, Panama. A full language immersion program, I lived with a Host Family and volunteered in a local Day Care Center daily. I completed 75 hours of classes, and 24 hours of community service during my 3 week stay. This summer (2015) I worked as an intern for Gabriel Calatrava (Architecture & Civil Engineering) in their Manhattan office. I worked there for two months.
I am really excited about my college prospects. I can't wait to discover the school out there with a diverse and challenging academic program in civil engineering, as well as a rockin’ Track Team looking for a talented, eager Sprinter ready to grow.
