I first fell in love with running in second grade. My elementary school hosted an annual event called the move-a-thon. Once a year, the entire school would gather on the neighboring high school's football field and walk until we dropped. Instead of messing around with my classmates, I walked and ran around the football field all day, determined to be the fastest and go the longest. By the end of the day, I had gone a total of twelve miles. Flash forward to fourth grade, I joined a running club. By fifth, I had joined the middle school team. In sixth grade I practiced with the varsity team and in seventh I raced with them. I have been running ever since.
While I love the feeling of wind in my hair and the sound of my breath whooshing in and out in time with my feet, I am most attracted to running because of it's difficulty. It is one of the most difficult sports to exist and this makes it the most rewarding to excel at. I know I have the determination, positive thinking and skill to be a collegiate athlete and eventually go professional.
I am just as dedicated inside the classroom as I am in practice. I am a straight A student and am involved in multiple clubs. Outside of school and running, I like to spend time with my family and ride horses. I also enjoy going to church and volunteering in the community.
