My running career started when I was five years old. I went on a one mile run with my dad, and about halfway through the run, I got a side cramp. My dad told me that if I came home crying, my mom would never let me run again. So, I pushed through and finished my one-mile run.
Since that day, I have put many miles on the very same feet. Hot miles, slow miles, fast miles, early morning miles, and birthday miles. Since that one mile run, I have fought through low iron and menstruation issues in my eighth-grade year. Since that one mile run, I have coached 5, 6, and 7-year-olds who aspire to be fast runners one day. Since that one mile run, I have won two all-conference titles. Since that one mile run, I have been named the captain of the cross country and track and field teams as a sophomore. Finally, since that one-mile run, I have learned many life lessons such as hard work, determination, leadership, toughness, and patience. I believe I will be an excellent addition to any team I am on because of the lessons I have learned through running.
For the future, I hope my last two years of high school are just as good or better than the first two years! I hope I can have a positive impact on the new runners on the team. I also hope I improve my times and become the fastest and strongest I can be. As for careers and colleges, I aspire to be a nurse. I would like to go to a big college with great coaches and teammates, that challenges me athletically and academically. I have learned and improved so much since my first run, and I hope I can keep learning and improving through college and my adult life.
