As a child, I was always trying to do what my two older brothers did - if not, I wanted to do it better. I was introduced to the javelin in April 2017 as a grade 9 student by my high school coach, Randy Johnson. Randy was a javelin thrower as well, having attended Southeast Missouri State on a track and field scholarship for javelin. Less than two months after my introduction to the javelin, I won bronze at the OFSAA Track and Field championships (all provincial), the 3rd largest track meet in North America. I knew that I had found my sport!! Despite the challenges associated with training and practicing during COVID, I was able to improve my personal best by over 3 m this year.
I am constantly searching for the best training and conditioning, having trained with London Western Track and Field Club, Maximus Performance (conditioning) and with the Brantford Track and Field Club where I currently train for javelin with Vicki Webb. Vicki is the mother and coach of Alexandria Webb, the Canadian U18 record holder for javelin. On the runway, I am the girl who has been known to wear mis-matched socks!
This year, I started seeking help from a sports chiropractor for nagging back tightness. I am intrigued with his technique and have decided that I would like to go into a similar field. I am currently taking Exercise Science at school and am loving it! I would love to be able to help other athletes the way that I have been helped.
