My name is Faith Evans. I am currently a junior at Mechanicsburg area Senior High School and will graduate in 2023. Academics and athletics are very important to me when choosing a college or university. While I desire to run cross country and track in college, academics must come first. I am a very talented artist and hope to pursue a career in some type of media or graphic design. I also have an interest in business which I also hope to pursue.
Running has been a passion since a young age. I began running in second grade through our area Girls on the Run Program. I ran varsity in middle school and continued in high school running varsity in both XC and track. In 2019, I went to PIAA States as a freshman where our team placed 5th in the state and returned to PIAA States this year as a junior helping our team place 4th in the state. I know I still have much more potential and know with hard work, perseverance, dedication and support of my coaches and teammates I will strengthen and grow with improved times. My goal is to continue running and improving throughout my college experience. I believe running is a life-long sport.
I feel I would be an asset to any team because I am a team player. My current cross-country team is like family, and we all support and encourage one another. Learning from my teammates and coaches has made me a better person and a better runner. My hope is that I have had the same impact on them. I am resilient. I overcame many obstacles and life challenges over the past few years but was able to overcome them and in the process strengthen. The friendships and experiences with my teammates will have a lifelong impact.
Outside of running, my family, faith and community are very important to me. I have two sisters and a mom and dad who are very supportive. Church has always been a part of my life and I have been involved with my community. I have volunteered with the Special Olympics and was a buddy member of the bocce ball team this year. I have also collected food for pet shelters and have served and helped the homeless. I participated in Girl Scouts from elementary school through middle school and earned my bronze award. I was a member of a swim team since age 6, swam USA swimming since age 9 and even made it to the Mid Atlantic Junior Olympics at age 10 in several events. Through the YMCA swim team, I was able to work with young swimmers as a volunteer. All of these experiences have impacted me and helped me grow.
Lastly, I am a very passionate person. I put my heart and soul into what I do and strive to do my best in all I do. I currently maintain a 3.7 GPA and am enrolled in all level I classes. I care very much about people and strongly believe in equal rights. I support my friends and family regardless of gender, race, faith or political beliefs. Outside of sports I enjoy various types of art and design, make up art, writing and streaming. All of these experiences make me unique and have shaped me into the person I am today. I plan to bring all of these experiences into my future successes.
