As a child I had an insatiable passion for running. From racing laps around the cul-de-sac, to dashing up and down the stairs again and again, I sought out every opportunity to run. In 8th grade I joined the Eastside cross country team and went to state for the first time. Unfortunately, a few weeks before the meet, our fastest runner developed a respiratory illness that kept her from running. My team needed me. The responsibility was mine. I accepted it. Pushing myself harder than I thought was possible, I led our team to take 3rd, PR'd, and placed 6th individually. The experience taught me that I can achieve great things if I am willing to endure and persevere. Therefore, I am determined to continue to fight through each workout, to fight through each race, and to fight for my team. My goal is to compete in track and cross country at the collegiate level while majoring in music, and it is my dream to be a successful athlete and musician. My dream is definitely worth fighting for.
