I have been running since my 6th grade year and have dreamt of running at the college level ever since then. As of 2021, I have dedicated my time to track and will compete and train year-round. My passion is hurdles, however, I have also long and triple jumped, run relays, and run in several individual events. I am willing to train and compete in any event needed in the future. I enjoy getting help from all of my coaches as well as my teammates, and I also love helping others excel at their events. I feel as if I am very coachable and take all that I learn and apply it to the very best of my ability. I love competing and yearn to continue competing throughout college.
Since my high school track career began, I placed 4th in the 100m hurdles and 6th in the 300m hurdles at the State track meet as a freshman! The cancellation of the track season my sophomore year was extremely disappointing, so I was determined to have a great season my junior year. My junior year I placed 3rd at State in the 100m hurdles and was the District Champ as well--it was so exciting! I have met several PRs this track season and claimed 1st place medals in both the 100m and 300m hurdles. I did all of this with a 4-step during the competitions, but I have since mastered the 3-step (with the help of my private coach) and plan to roll it out in this summer's club competitions. My goal is to be running in the high 15s with a 3-step during my senior track season....YES, I WILL!
I am also a hard worker inside the classroom. I have taken honors classes in all the core subjects throughout high school. I try to maintain an average GPA of 3.5 and work harder every day. I volunteer within my school to help be the hands of God and to serve my community. In addition to my school service hours, I am part of an organization called the National Charity League. It is a volunteer organization for mothers and daughters, and it is very rewarding to have the opportunity to serve others and see progress being make within my community--I have accrued over 100 volunteer hours since 2016 through this awesome organization.
All this to say, I am very hopeful that there is a hurdles coach out there that will give me the opportunity to show him/her what I am made of!
