My name is Kate Buerger, and I am an upcoming senior at University Lake School in Hartland, WI. Over the past year I have just fell in love with running, and now want to continue it in college! My running journey has not been like many other high school distance runners. I started track last year (sophomore year), and only got serious about it this year. I am a multi-sport athlete who also does field hockey in the fall. With that said I have never done cross country, but I look forward to starting it for the first time this fall. There are also only 8 people on our track team, so 90% of my training is done solo. This just shows my determination and grit I have towards running. The improvements I have made in just one track season has shown me how much I could grow in this sport. Continuing running in college will help me reach my full potential.
I don't only hold myself to high standards for running, but in school as well. I hold a 3.93 unweighted GPA, and I am Secretary of student government. Keeping myself accountable in school is just as important as keeping myself accountable in sports.
