I have always been active and have spent a lot of time in the outdoors. My childhood includes many memories of tending the cattle or sheep at my grandma’s ranch, diving for abalone on the Northern California coast, fishing near our cabin in Alaska and raising meat goats for my local 4-H club. And I have always loved to play outside with my brother and sister. These experiences have made me who I am.
My sister, Emma, was the first person who got me to really love volleyball. In 2nd grade, after we got home from school in the afternoons she would take me outside and hit balls at me and refused to take it easy on me because she wanted me to be tough. We would be out there every day until it got dark. Another person who has influenced me not just as a player but as a person is my nana. She’s there at every game, every tournament with her stats sheets cheering me and my team on. She’s my #1 fan and biggest supporter. I wouldn’t love this sport as much as I do if she hadn’t been there every step of the way.
I am committed to the goal of playing collegiate sports and believe that my experiences both on and off the court will help me to become a valued member of the volleyball program I ultimately choose.
