Hi Coaches,
My name is Lucy Chertock, and I hope to take my favorite game to the next level someday. Like most players, my goals are to play for a volleyball program that is also a strong academic institution. I am a serious student first, but aside from my family, friends and schoolwork, volleyball and my teammates are the most important part of my life. I always have a ball in my hands, or close by. I love the game because each individual has to work so cohesively with the others, toward common goals. In Club, the strong friendships and support we have as teammates have helped carry us to great success. As such close friends, our relationships and dedication to each other have allowed us to each take turns leading the team in our own way. Through hard work and building bonds with teammates, earning their confidence, (and with a little playfulness), I've progressed from being the newcomer on the bench during the 12s season, to a team leader on the 17s season - playing all the way around. We have been successful every season getting bids to Junior Nationals in Open division, largely due to the incredible dynamic we have as teammates and our faith in each other. I hope to bring my own version of this "team-first" mentality to my college program someday, and it starts with each relationship. Volleyball is decidedly more fun and successful when there is an underlying current of familiarity and love for your teammates.
My Freshman year, I played on the Varsity volleyball team at San Ramon Valley High. I started every game, but as a middle. I have always been an outside but played middle for the first time during high school. My Sophomore year, I played Outside Hitter and led our team to win NCS (North Coast Section) and to place 5th in California. My junior year, I played 6 rotations as an outside and received the MVP award from my coach. I was also named all-league first team and was an athlete of the month for my school. I was top 30 in California for kills, and number 1 in North Coast Section.
This 2024 club season is going to be incredible, and I can't wait to experience it all with my wonderful team! I hope to see some of you on the sidelines!
