Hello,
My name is Maya Hamaoka and I am currently in my Senior year at Kalani High school. I play Indoor and Beach and love them both. I play Outside Hitter. One of my coaches is Kevin Wong the Sand Volleyball Olympian and Sports Analyst for NBC. Coach Kevin mentioned on a televised game that I have a great attitude, am very coachable and a player to watch. I believe these characteristics helped me reach my goals quickly and have helped me earn top positions on the two best Volleyball Clubs in Hawaii.
Along with my passion for volleyball I am also a hard working student equally passionate about learning. I am an honor roll student and hold a 3.94 GPA. I like to challenge myself academically by taking Advanced placement courses.
When not playing volleyball I spend my time giving back to my community and volunteer with many programs. I spent the last 4 summers as a volunteer Junior Leader with the Department of Education Summer program. I am also a member of the National Honor Society. I was the president of the "Best Buddies Club" at school where I organized activities and events for our special needs students. I have been a volunteer coach for 3 years at Spike and Serve Volleyball Club Junior league so I can share my passion with the younger athletes. Giving back to the community is important to me because I get to help my community to make it better and hopefully inspire Hawaii's future generations.
If given the opportunity to play in college I am confident that I will excel in your program. My goal is to play at the collegiate level as a hitter but will welcome any position as I am always open to learn new skills to improve my game.
I hope to meet with you soon!
Maya Hamaoka
