Hi, my name is Colleen Douglas I'm a freshman in college looking to transfer for Fall 2022. I plan on continuing my athletic career at a different college/university. My previous experience at my current university was not what I expected. During my fall season at Lakeland University, I was a redshirt. I had ACL surgery on April 12th, 2021. I went to physical therapy and went through rehab to return to gameplay. The coach dismissed me from the team, and now I want to play somewhere I belong.
In comparison, while volleyball is important, I need a college that is also successful academically. Professors care about their students, the classes are small, and the culture is good all around. My plan career-wise was to become a physical therapist and get my B.S. in exercise science. However, the professor at my current university was not what I thought he was. Everyone hyped up the program and it turns out I just could not handle what he was teaching. Due to that situation, I changed my major to psychology. However, if there is a college with an excellent, successful exercise science program that would be wonderful!
I have played volleyball since I was in the third grade and I have been playing ever since. I also play club volleyball at Illini Elite Volleyball Club. I'm always willing to listen to change and I always work hard toward my goals. When playing volleyball, I learn how to cooperate with others and listen to my teammates ideas. I haven't always played the same position either. I have been a setter or even a defensive specialist. Starting from day one all over again coming back from my ACL surgery, I need to figure out what position is best for me.
Being a senior in high school was hard in a small town. Even though I am from a small town, I manage to maintain an unweighted 3.905 GPA. I'm ranked 5th out of 46 people in my grade. My weighted GPA is 4.073. In the classroom or on the court, people come to me for help. I love to help people with their problems and I don't give up on my school work. School is my most important priority, but volleyball is always a second choice.
