I love playing volleyball. It brings me joy and has taught me many important lessons e.g. teamwork, leadership, friendship, failure, persistence, and success. I aspire to play college volleyball. Both my parents migrated from Trinidad and Tobago in the 1990s to attend college. The national motto for the nation of Trinidad and Tobago is “Together We Aspire Together We Achieve”. As a first-generation American with deep Caribbean roots, I embrace my parents’ heritage. That is why I use the words “Aspire” and “Achieve” from the motto as my own source of motivation in everything I do, including volleyball. I plan on attending a college or university that will help me achieve both my athletic and academic goals. I am interested in public health and environmental science. My aspiration is to one day be a professional who helps disadvantaged individuals achieve health equity and justice in environmentally sustainable communities.
