Nicole Decker '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Nicole Decker and I am an upcoming senior at The Academy of the Holy Names. Whether I am in the classroom or on the court I am determined to perform at an exceptionally high level. I have been an athlete my whole life, inspired by my siblings who both currently play college sports. I have been playing volleyball for six years and have loved it since day one. I began my volleyball career as a defensive specialist and have been on varsity since my eighth-grade year. We have won our conference three years in a row including my eighth grade and sophomore year when we made it to sectional finals. I believe in constant communication with my teammates, whether it is telling them where the hit is going, cheering for them, helping them keep their heads up or just keeping the energy level high. I have been training as a hitter for the past two years, playing all the way around and having backup hands. I have contributed to my school team by stepping up to set when needed especially when our main setter was injured. I ultimately think this made me a well-rounded player that improved my skills as well as my court IQ. It increased my awareness on the court allowing me to be conscious of what was occurring on our side of the net as well as the opposing side. As I look towards college at more competitive programs I see myself as a defensive specialist, and at competitive programs I potentially can play all the way around.
