I love Volleyball. Volleyball has taught me so many traits in life like how to be a teammate and pick someone up and how to absorb advice and then apply it. I started playing competitively when I was in 5th grade.
One of the highlights of my high school volleyball years was when I was pulled up to varsity in 8th grade and I got to play with both my older sisters in one game. Being a setter for my high school team helped me learn the game more completely and appreciate my teammates from different perspectives. Volleyball is truly a team/family sport, one that requires communication and bonding on and off the court.
My years of playing club volleyball at the top levels with truly talented players have not only allowed me to improve my skills from year to year but equally important is the mental strengthening. I have learned how to remain focused and calm under pressure. Winning the Show Me National qualifier at Kansas City in 2016 when I was co-captain was definitely an experience I will never forget. The flying, traveling and missing a few days of school was all worth it. Unlike high school games with the crowds cheering and going crazy, it was satisfaction knowing that my team did it! We envisioned, played our hearts out and did it, even though very few of our family members and friends were there to witness it.
I don't want to stop competing when I go to college. Volleyball is a part of me. Though undecided about major, I am interested in many fields: political science, psychology, human resources, education and business.
