Hi — I’m Adele. I previously attended the Dalton School (NYC) for my freshman and sophomore years and transferred to Poly Prep (Brooklyn) for my junior. I have been a starter (OH) on varsity volleyball for four years since the beginning of 8th grade at Dalton. My varsity team at Poly Prep won the New York State Championship (NYSAIS) in Nov-21. I have played club volleyball for six years, and absolutely fell in love with the sport from the first time I stepped on the court. I am excited for the upcoming club season with Brooklyn Elite Volleyball - Empire 17-1.
I have made so many incredible friendships through playing volleyball and I truly believe it has shaped who I am as a person. Through volleyball, I have learned important skills such as grit, hard work, dedication, time management, sportsmanship, how to be the best teammate possible, and how to persevere through any obstacles in my path. Playing volleyball has also helped me cultivate a strong work ethic — outside of practice, I typically workout two to three times each day to continually improve as a player and an athlete.
I intern and write for the travel magazine Galavante and tutor at a Charter school in Harlem through Children’s Aid. I also participate in the Generations club at Dalton where I volunteer to help Seniors with any technological problems they may have. Additionally, this year I organized and led a student team to fundraise for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) as part of the 2021 Students of The Year campaign — we raised $53k, exceeding our goal of $50k during the seven-week fundraising period ending March 9, 2021.
I think what really sets me apart is my passion for volleyball, my ability to uplift teammates around me, and my dedication to improving myself athletically. Volleyball has always been such a big part of my life, and it would be such an amazing experience and privilege to continue playing competitively through college.
