My name is Sydney Green. I have played Outside Hitter for many years and also have played Setter. I am currently a Senior at Packer Collegiate Institute and will be graduating in June 2021. I have been playing Volleyball since 5th grade and absolutely love it! When I first started playing, I was nervous because I am not as tall as some of the other girls. What I have realized is that what I lack in natural height, I make up for in my athleticism (especially my ability to jump), along with my coachable positive attitude. I keep myself mentally ready at all times and when I step into the gym, I am consistently trying to make myself AND my team better. I am a very well-rounded volleyball player being able to play any position on the front row and back row.
I have played high school volleyball for four years. I joined the Varsity team as a Sophomore (where continued until now). Our team made it to the ACIS Tournament Finals in 2018. I also have been playing club volleyball for 4 years. I played with South Brooklyn Volleyball Club for my first two years and was given the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award from them. For the last two years, I have been playing with Asphalt Green. I played up last year (on the 18s team). I realized that in order for a team to be successful – we must always work together. As an individual, we need to make certain sacrifices to realize our goals. That means pushing hard in both volleyball practice and also with our academics. Being a student-athlete has helped me learn how to prioritize my school and work life and how to be very organized, in order to achieve my goals.
My cumulative GPA is a 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. Currently I have an A- average for this semester in my classes. I have taken the ACT and scored a 25. I am currently undecided about my major, but plan on pursuing a four-year degree. I also really hope to continue playing volleyball on the college level and am searching for a school that offers academic challenge and high level volleyball.
