Ever since I joined my first club volleyball team at the age of nine, I have strived to enhance my knowledge of the sport that fascinates me. By applying this knowledge to my attitude on and off of the court, I improved drastically and accomplished the goals I'd set for myself, including starting on the Townsend Harris High School varsity volleyball team as a freshman and making the CALI club team that has competed in the Open Division for the last 3 years. I am very vocal, aggressive, and look for open spots on the court. I aspire to continue growing, which is why I'd like the opportunity to play for a college team. I believe that although I'm familiar with the game, there is always something new to learn and practice.
Aside from playing volleyball, I am a member of the Festival of Nations Club at my school and occasionally share my work at poetry readings. I also volunteer at Global Empowerment Services, a non-profit organization where I tutor young children in a low-income neighborhood. In addition, I enjoy martial arts and volunteer at my martial arts dojo. Other programs I have volunteered in include, Crocheting For a Cause (knitting hats for kids in need), and Sam's Cafe (serving lunch to seniors at the Samuel Field Y).
Alongside my extracurricular activities and volunteer work, I have managed to maintain a 3.8 GPA in my standard, AP, and Honors classes. I hope to continue along this path as a student-athlete as I progress into college.
