I have played sports ever since I remember: soccer, basketball, softball, swimming, dancing, and now volleyball. I get satisfaction from playing a good game, asking more of myself, supporting my team and learning to be better every day. I started focusing on volleyball when I was in Costa Rica, in my freshman year. I had little to no experience, however, my coach gave me the chance to train with the team and I ended being one of their staters on the main school conference - AASCA (Association of American Schools in Central America), my team placed 4th in the conference and I won MVP. My coach praised my reliability and trusted me in court. I liked the fast pace of the sport and the team aspect of it. This is when my love for the sport started. Although I have played for only a couple of years, I have focused on it and improve my abilities and all my coaches have praised me for being a fast learner that receives well feedback and guidance.
I moved to New York in 2018, and I was able to get a spot as a starter in the varsity team as a sophomore. Changing schools is always hard especially the first year, however, volleyball and being part of a team helped me have a successful transition into Rye Neck. I want to continue playing volleyball in college in a school that is both athletically and academically challenging. I will bring to my future team, not only my athletic ability but, the experience of living and succeeding in 5 different cities/schools, which has provided me with the ability to adapt and persevere through many challenges.
2019 Volleyball HS season was excellent for me and the school, I got All league, All Conference and All Section and took my team to the Section 1 Final (NY). I am now playing with a National Travel team (Chelsea Piers U17). Looking forward to keep improving and get recruited.
