Hi, my name is Gianna Lucchi and I am currently a junior at Sanford H. Calhoun High School. Being that my mom played Division II volleyball and won a national championship for Northern Michigan University, volleyball has been a major component of my life for a very long time. I started playing travel volleyball when I was 11 years old, eventually making my way up to the high school level, where I made varsity as a freshman and have maintained a starting position for the last 3 years.
This past season we won the New York State Class A Girls Volleyball Championship, a first for women's sports in our district, and the first State Championship for my high school. Receiving All-County Honorable Mention for the past three years, this year I gained recognition at the state level. Winning All-State for my setting, I set my 1000th career assist this season as well as finishing first in my county for assist stats (729 assists).
I have been told by my coaches that I am coachable as well as naturally athletic and a quick learner. In addition to playing volleyball, I have been playing softball for the last 6 years. For the past 3 years, I have been a starter on my school's softball team playing centerfield. This past season my batting average was .433 and I received All-Conference accolades.
Academically, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA while playing for my school's regular Orchestra as well as the Chamber Orchestra. I am a member of the numerous clubs, including the Racial Equity Club, Gender Equity Club, Sign Language Club, and Newspaper Club. Additionally, I am an active member of the English National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honors Society, and Science Honors Society.
