I began playing volleyball when I was in third grade when my gym teacher asked me to come play with a team he had made. As soon as I started playing, I fell in love with the sport and couldn't get enough. I joined his team and was always playing. I was eager to learn a lot at young age and picked it up quickly.
From there I was able to make my game more competitive by joining the VolleyFX volleyball club when I was 10. While playing at VolleyFX, I had always made it on the 1’s team. We were a very competitive team each year that would play higher age groups and open level competitions. Our team qualified for multiple USA Volleyball national championships. For my 17U year, I made the decision to switch clubs to Paradigm Volleyball Club to further my growth and development and play at a high level.
I joined my school’s volleyball program in seventh grade playing modified for one year and junior varsity for one year before joining varsity my freshman year. My team made it to sectional finals twice, my sophomore and junior years. My junior year I received and All County Second Team Award and All-Greater Rochester Honorable Mention. I am continuing to help the program in the off-season by participating in demonstrations for the elementary schools to get them interested in volleyball.
In the off season I like to take time to attend strength and conditioning sessions, and work on honing in certain skills. I attend open gyms, skills sessions, and lifting after schools every week. During the summertime I play summer league with other schools from my area.
I have been very fortunate to learn from some great coaches, played with some amazing athletes, and have made some great friends along the way. I hope to have an opportunity to continue play at the college level.
