An immense turning point in my volleyball career was not when my team and I would win tournaments or games, but rather lose them. Those losses would make me question whether I wanted to continue playing. However, during those moments of adversity is when I realized how much I wanted to keep playing. During my freshman volleyball season in Japan, our team made it to the playoffs, but we unfortunately lost. This experience, especially, helped me reflect on my character on how I could lift the team up after such a hard loss.
Being in the military has made me move one place to another, which means I switch volleyball programs too. Playing volleyball internationally has taught me that different countries have customs that other countries may not. It is essential to respect these differences on and off the court, win or lose. I am searching for a college that holds the same ideals and qualities of respect for diversity. My extraordinary experience playing volleyball makes me a punctual and assertive candidate for this program.
