It’s so good to be back on the court after 20 months!
I have been involved with Volleyball since the Fourth Grade when I joined a summer camp with Pakman Volleyball Club. I have never stopped playing or loving the game since the very first time I walked onto the court as a kid. The thing I like the best about volleyball is the family. Everyone has to work together to get the job done. I love being a part of that team, there is just no better feeling then when everyone is doing their part, and all those drills we ran over and over again in practice work out so beautifully on the court.
My primary goal right now is to keep playing volleyball. I play in the summers, I play in school, I play after school. I play in my backyard against a brick wall. During Covid I convinced my neighbor to play over the fence. While all the clubs are closed during Covid, I gathered a group of Club kids to play at a local beach court. I want to continue playing volleyball all the way through University and hopefully beyond that and maybe one day I'll hopefully coach.
I am an Honour Roll student. My favorite subject is always the Sciences. I am very good at balancing my sports with keeping my grades up. I want to study Kinesiology and become a teacher. I like playing and being the best at what I do on and off the court. I'm very driven that way. But mostly I like giving back; so I'd like to major in a field where I get to help others.
I'm a very competitive person, I do play with the intent to win but more importantly I am a fair player. I do not get hung up on bad calls or bad plays, my head is in every play. I practice over and over on my own time to perfect a skill I may be struggling with or to strengthen a current skill to make it better and I am someone others depend on to help them too. My team knows that I play my position well and that I want to see my entire team do well. I am not afraid to be benched if Coach thinks that's where I need to be or if some one else deserves time on the court. I am a starter, but if I am having an off day or Coach says I'm done or I am playing Middle that game than I am the biggest loudest cheerleader on the bench or playing that position as best I can.
To date, my proudest moment was being recruited right out of the freshmen tryouts onto the Senior High school team at St. Martin which is also a Regional Sports School, that same year I made Senior Girls Athlete of the Month in grade 9. In grade 10 I was signed to the 16U Georgetown Impact Ignite team. On my own time I work with the Juniors to help them with their skills and drills; and if the Seniors don't have a practice then I practice with the Juniors. When the Seniors are not playing then I am a linesman or score keeper for the Juniors or Boys teams.
I also have a lot of school spirit. I participate in lots of school clubs and other sports like Ultimate Frisbee and Flag Football. Next semester I am a member of the schools Link Crew which is our leadership club. I have over 250 community and volunteer service hours already accumulated. I am outgoing and friendly and I am always smiling. It is not unusual for coaches from other sports in the school to come recruit me to their teams.
I look forward to talking to potential coaches and recruiters and finding out if I am a good fit for your team.
