Volleyball is very important to me. The sport has helped me with my social skills and has served as a stress reliever. I know when I’m stressed out that I can rise up and hit and I’ll be ok. I want to play volleyball in college because of the success I see with those who I have looked up to in the sport, specifically, Rachael Adams and Matt Anderson. Their success has helped me focus on my goals and volleyball future. I’m a team player, which is one of the greatest individual assets for volleyball. My coaches have always told me that this is not an individual sport and you always have to be thinking of ways to make the team better and successful. I’ve taken this to heart and truly believe without the team, the individual rewards mean very little. I know that mistakes are part of the game and without them rallies would just go on forever! Over time, I’ve learned that I shouldn’t focus on mistakes but learn from them.
I have learned, over the past few years, that when you play any sport, you must work hard to achieve your goals. I am a hard worker because I push myself when I know that I can do better. The worse feeling I have is walking away from a practice knowing that I could have done better. So I push myself, so I know that I’m getting everything out of practice and my team is getting better. I want to play college volleyball in the future because of my love and ambition for the sport. A life of college Volleyball is something that I’m pursuing and would love to make reality in the near future.
