Hello! I am Brooke and In college I plan to study business. From a young age, I have always loved school and been very engaged in my education. I now want more than anything to continue learning and expanding my knowledge in college.
2022, In my sophomore year I took a chance when I joined the first ever girls wrestling team for my school, that would end up being one of the best decisions I have made. I remember my first ever wrestling match changed my entire perspective on life. Prior to that I had never experienced something so mentally and physically challenging. More importantly, I got completely beat up by my more experienced opponent. That may not sound like a good thing but it humbled me. Additionally, I felt the strength, commitment, and the pure hunger my opponent had, and it made me appreciate exactly how much hard work is needed to win a match. Most importantly, it made me realize that I could be capable of that too if I worked for it. Ever since that moment I have been addicted to the sport. Despite starting comparatively late, in my first year, I qualified for the first ever NY women’s wrestling states. Yet, I ended the event finishing 2-2 and loath the match that would have made me place. After I had gotten a taste of what it takes to be a good wrestler, I put the work in, and now in my second year, I have secured 5th place in I believe the first ever Sanctioned NC women’s state championship. However I am not satisfied with 5th and I am determined to see how far I can push my self this senior year coming up. I love wrestling because of how much it pushes me mentally and physically everyday and I am only getting started. It’s not just a sport to me, it’s a lifestyle. A very smart coach of mine once said: the way you do anything is the way you do everything.
