Personal Statement

My two foremost collegiate goals are to become an aerospace engineer and to wrestle competitively at the Division 1 level. Ever since I had started wrestling in the seventh grade, my focus has been to wrestle at my highest capacity as an individual. However, following a disappointing freshman season, I have taken the opportunity that this  pandemic has given to apply myself fully when it comes to training and establish habits that will beneficial in my wrestling career in the future. My aspiration before college is to earn the title of CIF State Champion. Despite this aspiration and application of myself, my number one focus will always be academics. When I was little, my parents told me the importance of education in today's society, and have never let me forget that since then. I have taken their words to heart, and will always value my education over most of the other facets of my life. As much as I have applied myself to wrestling since the seventh grade, I have applied myself even more to school since kindergarten. As for what I believe differentiates from other potential recruits, is my unrelenting dedication to achieve my goals athletically and academically, as well as the mindset I have towards team synergy. I think that one of the most important parts of a wrestler's growth is how they they train and interact with their teammates. You can not grow without the right people pushing you in the wrestling room. So, as a result of this and wanting to see my peers succeed, I always do my best when it comes to helping them grow, and as well as being receptive to their input on my wrestling. On my journey to better myself, I want to help better everyone else in the room the same. Wrestling is a team sport as much as it is a solo sport.
