My goal in college is to earn a degree and continue wrestling. I have been wrestling for more than a eleven years and love what the sport has done for me. It has taught me at a very young age to have discipline and the mistakes I make on the mat and in the classroom is all on me. If I want to do better I will have to put in the work. The way I carry myself on and off the mat and in the classroom is a reflection of me. If I don't put my best effort forward it doesn't just affect me but those around me as well.
My stepmother who raised me who I call my Mom is a retired Navy Hospital Corpsman and my father who was a prior Navy Chief and now a Naval Officer. Structure and hard work has been instilled in me at a very young age and failure is not an option. I've witnessed my father make it up the enlisted ranks, graduate college and commission as a Naval Officer all while being active duty and taking care of the family. My Mom caring for us while my father was deployed overseas in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. She did it all! Cooking, cleaning, driving my siblings and I to games and practices, as well as helping with homework.
I've been through more than most kids my age or older. I've dealt with loss of loved ones, losing a home, a biological mother who left me and my sisters at a very young age, and even being separated from my father for periods of time. All that aside I'm grateful for everything I have such as my health and the people that supported me through my life. As I stated in the paragraph before failure is not an option, I will be good for any college program if given the opportunity.
