Personal Statement

Driven.  Determined.  Leader.  These attributes are qualified by my strong work ethic, perseverance, dedication and coachability.  I challenge myself to improve my wrestling skills by practicing with intensity every time I step onto the mat.  I work on my strength and conditioning regularly and strive to improve my mental toughness to give myself every opportunity to succeed.  As a result I have improved my record each year and continue to advance further in post-season competition.  In 2020, I placed 7th at the NYSPHYSSA State Championships the first year I qualified.  The next year, I placed 4th at the NYS Journeymen Tournament in a combined division event (despite a delayed season due to COVID).  Last school season, I had an undefeated record that culminated in a decisive Sectional victory and earned the honor of Most Outstanding Wrestler for ECIC Division II.   I am especially proud of my accomplishments since I started my wrestling career later than much of my competition.  Having never wrestled before, I joined our school modified team in 7th grade and found my passion!  I am determined to continue to improve and refuse to accept limits on my potential.

As a three-year captain of my high school Varsity Wrestling Team, I demonstrate my dedication to my sport and my team.  I lead by example.  I help my teammates by being a good drill partner, helping less-experienced teammates learn new skills and promoting sportsmanship.  I am pleased that my coaches depend on me to help with administrative duties as well.  I realize that as a student-athlete and captain, it is a privilege to wear our school uniform and I have an added responsibility to represent my team in a positive light to school administration, faculty and fellow students as well as the outside community.

I want to take my wrestling to the next level as a member of a competitive D1 wrestling program.  My experience shows continuous improvement through hard work.  I am confident that I will continue to improve and be an asset to my college team.  I welcome the challenge and rigor.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
