Doing the best, I can academically, competing at the collegiate level, and experiencing the best that college life has to offer are the main things I want from my college years. As the youngest sibling I grew up a fast learner in a family that emphasized the benefits of hard work, honesty, and good decision making. Observing my parents teach my siblings responsibility and reward them with earned freedom ultimately helped me grow up faster than most of my peers. This unique perspective has made me focus in ways that have helped me tremendously in athletics and in school.
Talent and natural abilities are good, but I learned early that real success only comes through relentless hard work and practicing weaknesses. As a 3rd grader I began playing lacrosse and had made the travel team by 5th grade. At a very young age I began sailing competitively in the sound and on the ocean along the Atlantic coast and by 8th grade I had qualified and competed in two world championships. Solo sailing in breezy conditions not only makes you tough but it makes you self-reliant and confident. By the time I was 15 I had already passed my US Sailing Level One instructor certification and worked summers teaching young kids how to sail.
As a sixth grader I began wrestling and won every conference championship through middle school and so far through high school. In addition, my freshman year I won states at 195 while weighing out the day before at 176. Sophomore year I was a runner up in an overtime battle. Academically, I am most proud going from a C average my freshman year in Spanish to A average my sophomore year. In my free time I enjoy playing the guitar and tutoring children at a local elementary school.
