Pitching Coach Referral: Jackson is a special athlete and person. He is the kind of kid every one else on the team will follow. I would want Jackson on MY team. His pitching skills have improved exponentially over the last 18 months. His 2 seam fastball (at 16 yrs old) is in the mid to high 80s consistently and has great movement. His slider, which breaks like a cutter is in the upper70s ,,and his curveball which breaks approx 18 inches is in the low 70s. He can hit spots with the fastball and consistently throws strikes with his breaking pitches. Going into his junior year he will have 3 pitches he can throw for strikes and will be working on a change-up as his fourth pitch. We are on a throwing program during football season of once a week and will increase that activity when football is over. Jackson is a physically strong athlete. His core is solid and you will not find a harder worker. Written 9/25/2019.

My name is Jackson Kossow, I am a Sophomore at Somers High School in Westchester, NY. I'm 6'1" and 170lbs. I'm a Right-Handed Pitcher for my Varsity baseball team and my club team (Westchester Junior Ducks). I also play OF and MIF when I am not pitching. As a freshman I played Varsity Lacrosse for my school. My whole life I toggled both Baseball and Lacrosse including Freshman year, I played Lacrosse in the spring and Baseball in the summer. I recently fell in love with Baseball and knew that I wanted to focus on Baseball. As a Sophomore I was the starting Pitcher and Quarterback for my school's Varsity teams. It was my first time leading athletes two years older than me. I believe that it made me a much more confident and overall better leader not only in Football and Baseball but also off the field as well. As a Quarterback I received an All-League reward in November. As a Pitcher, I have a strong work ethic and train year-round in the weight room and in the pen. After losing a teammate and close friend of mine last June, I dedicated everything to him and I train to become successful and win in his name. I continue to train every day and work hard in both school and sports.
I currently am finishing up my Sophomore year and I believe I have taken major strides athletically and academically since the beginning of the year. I'm an active member of our Student Athletic Council, and we are currently working on improving our athletic program to put us on the next level. Somers High School has had very successful programs in years past with many Section and State championships to show for it. I've also been asked to work and coach a few young athletes individually by their parents. They offered to pay me for my time with their children, and I expect to teach them my work ethic and help them progress not only skillfully but mentally, in Baseball, as well. I also mentor our 8th grade youth football team to prepare them for high school.
My plan is to attend a college that will be a good fit for me academically and for baseball. I'm very confident in my abilities as a Pitcher and I can't wait to improve those abilities and take things to the next level. Thank you for your time!
