When I was 8 years old, I put on my first set catcher's gear, I knew that was where I was supposed to be. Being a catcher has taught me determination, focus, and resilience. It has also taught me that even when it is hard, you have to be the leader and support for your team. Having grown up in a small, rural town, opportunities were not easily accessible for me. Though the support of my parents, I was able to find great baseball programs; however, this meant that we had to travel 1-2 hours 2-3 times a week for practice. We have done this since I was eight; and once I turned sixteen, I started making those drives myself. Doing this taught me how to how to manage my time wisely because during all this, I still maintained an A/B average in school and worked a part-time job as an umpire and referee. I also juggled being a multi-sport athlete for school [soccer (2 time team captain) , basketball (2024 All-Conference Honorable Mention), and baseball]. Lastly, I also have volunteered over 250 hours since my freshman year in my church's youth program, mainly working in the nursery. I also volunteer with the Miracle League of the Triangle; this has a special meaning to me as I have a brother who has multiple mental disabilities; and this gives him and others like him the opportunity to play and enjoy baseball like I do. I have learned in life how to be a committed team player who knows the meaning of sacrifice, determination, and leadership. I am looking for a school where I can pursue my career of becoming a physical therapist while also pursuing my dream of playing baseball. I know I can be an asset to any team that is looking for a hard-working leader.
