My name is Corbin Bowering. I am motivated to use my passion for baseball to help me achieve my goal of pursuing a study in either astronomy, engineering or law at the post-secondary level. I am dedicated to the sport of baseball in order to help me reach my full potential in life. When I was 10 years old my uncle took my cousin and me to play some catch. He had told me I was a natural and encouraged me to sign up. From there I joined my local house league baseball team, which is where my passion for baseball grew. I am quite thankful for my Uncle and his encouragement. If not for him I might have never started playing this sport, which has greatly impacted my life and made me the person I am today. Throughout the years, baseball has taught me to take a very positive approach to new challenges. I am quite tenacious, and eager to learn new things. When I put my mind to something, I will always follow through with it to the best of my ability. In elementary school, my teachers had nominated me to take part in a leadership program which allows students to develop leadership skills, and to use them back at their own schools. When I was 11, I attended OELC, (Ontario Educational Leadership Centre) which definitely influenced me, and helped me expand my leadership abilities. In my final year of elementary school, my peers had nominated me to be the Valedictorian of my graduating class. During graduation, I had also received the Mathematics Award from my teachers. Finally, I would like to say that my way of bigger thinking sets me apart from other recruits. I see baseball as a pathway to get where I want to in life, and if I have to work as hard as possible to get where I want to be, then that’s what I’m going to do.
